Ashneer Grover vs Salman again 🤔
And what his popularity tells about our culture, the startup ecoystem.
Ashneer is at it again! 🤔
What I don't understand:
1. However did VCs overlook the red flags? Like he doesn't make any effort to hide him.Was it just pedigree (IIT,IIM)?
2. He is also not successful . Never ran a profitable business or one that exited, his wealth is tied to BharatPe, a company that's still struggling to make profits and may never make.
3. Before that he was part of Grofers. And that didn't work out too until it pivoted to Blinkit.
Are we really celebrating the wrong role models?
Consider this:
1 He has a new show coming up on MX-Prime .He is the main person.
2. Ok mainstream TV may have viewership as an excuse but even he talks about budget etc on Business news channels.
3. His book is the top-selling on Indian startups. Seriously!?
4 . NIT invited him to speak. What were they thinking? that's where this happened)
And ashneer is not a one-off.. let’s not forget about Rahul Yadav from housing.com. What’s happening to startup India, general culture and our idea of success? 🤷♂️
What’s your take on this idiocy?

PREDICTION: Quick commerce will have a slower brother or sister...
As I have always stated, quick commerce will pivot towards e-commerce, with longer delivery times. My previous article on Afaqs even mentioned a delivery timeframe of 30-45 minutes.
