Revant Himatsinga shows us the value of going niche
👍Revant Himatsingka is at it again and this time he’s taking on bread! 👨🍳✨
1. What I like about him is that he’s incredibly creative, managing to carve out a new category for himself as a “Food label influencer”. 🎨🍽️
2. I am not an expert but sooner or later there will be questions about the accuracy of what he posts.
3. Additionally, the transparency of his sponsorships: There might be an incentive to call a certain bread better, but I guess he won’t do it. However, there might be copycats who will. 📢🍞
4. But I believe what he is doing is great because this content also puts pressure on the Indian government and relevant authorities to step in and monitor food labels more closely. Even brands will need to get into the act. 📝🏢🔍
5. Sharing Adarsh Gopalakrishnan’s take on the veracity of the content.
Not the worst idea to avoid breads, grains, snacks loaded with oil for the simple reason that they are calorie dense.
If you are eating two slices of bread, pick the most delicious breads variety that you enjoy eating. Ensure each slice does not exceed 60-70 calories. That would place each slice at around 25-30 grams.
As for the choice of grain, pick any grain really. Maida, wheat anything really. Or some combination. Point is to moderate how many slices. If you switch from white bread to chapati, and still consume 4-6 rotis in a sitting, the problem is how much grain not which grain.
I am not advocating that you eat only refined grain. But I am
arguing that grain not be the dominant source of energy in our daily eating.
If I sat and drank a liter of milk in a sitting, people would consider it strange. But no one bats an eyelid if you go through 5 chapatis with some ghee or a 600
Calorie portion of brown rice biriyani.
I have no clue what this influencer sells. But he is using one of the most tried and tested rules in the fitness industry playbook. Throw a rigid set of rules at your clients/audience. Makes you look at authoritative. I have a problem with the lack of nuance.
6. It’s surprising that Wholetruthfood hasn’t done this themselves or sponsored him until now. 🤔 Maybe they should consider it!
7. In addition, Revant Himatsingka (Food Pharmer) has now written a book called “Selfienomics: A Seriously Funny Guide to Living the Good Life”. 📚
The takeaway :
Don’t go mainstream. Pick a niche and then if you are really good at it,
📸 Creator-Author-Course..seems to be the standard and a pretty path these days.”
